Titre : A Guide to Selecting Software Measures and Metrics Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Capers Jones, Auteur Editeur : CRC Press Taylor & Francis Ltd Année de publication : 2017 Importance : 358p Format : 23.5x15.5cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-03-247691-9 Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : Going where no book on software measurement and metrics has previously gone, this critique thoroughly examines a number of bad measurement practices, hazardous metrics, and huge gaps and omissions in the software literature that neglect important topics in measurement. The book covers the major gaps and omissions that need to be filled if data about software development is to be useful for comparisons or estimating future projects.
Among the more serious gaps are leaks in reporting about software development efforts that, if not corrected, can distort data and make benchmarks almost useless and possibly even harmful. One of the most common leaks is that of unpaid overtime. Software is a very labor-intensive occupation, and many practitioners work very long hours. However, few companies actually record unpaid overtime. This means that software effort is underreported by around 15%, which is too large a value to ignore. Other sources of leaks include the work of part-time specialists who come and go as needed. There are dozens of these specialists, and their combined effort can top 45% of total software effort on large projects.
The book helps software project managers and developers uncover errors in measurements so they can develop meaningful benchmarks to estimate software development efforts. It examines variations in a number of areas that include:
Programming languages
Development methodolog
Software reuse
Functional and nonfunctional requirements
Industry type
Team size and experience
Filled with tables and charts, this book is a starting point for making measurements that reflect current software development practices and realities to arrive at meaningful benchmarks to guide successful software projects.A Guide to Selecting Software Measures and Metrics [texte imprimé] / Capers Jones, Auteur . - [S.l.] : CRC Press Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2017 . - 358p ; 23.5x15.5cm.

Titre : Laboratory Experiments in Trace Environmental Quantitative Analysis Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Paul R. Loconto, Auteur Editeur : CRC Press Taylor & Francis Ltd Année de publication : 2022 Importance : 142p Format : 23x15,5 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-03-219562-9 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 628 Technique sanitaire et municipale. Génie urbain Résumé : Laboratory Experiments in Trace Environmental Quantitative Analysis is a collection of student-tested experiments that introduce important principles that underlie various laboratory techniques in the field of trace environmental organics and inorganics quantitative analysis. It crosses the more traditional academic disciplines of environmental science and analytical chemistry.
The text is organized to begin with minimally rigorous session/experiments and increase in rigor as each session/experiment unfolds. Each experiment features learning objectives, expected student outcomes, and suggestions for further study.
Additional features include:
Students are introduced to the principles and laboratory practice of instrumental analysis (determinative techniques) that are clearly presented.
Students are carefully taken through various ways to prepare samples for trace quantitative analysis (sample prep techniques). Safety warnings are listed within each experiment.
Students are introduced to all three types of instrument calibration: external, internal and standard addition.
Instructors who are responsible for laboratory courses in analytical chemistry with potential application to environmental sample matrices will find this textbook of value. Graduate programs in environmental science and engineering will also greatly benefit from the content.Laboratory Experiments in Trace Environmental Quantitative Analysis [texte imprimé] / Paul R. Titre : Mass Spectrometry-Based Metabolomics : A Practical Guide Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Sastia Prama Putri, Auteur ; Eiichiro Fukusaki, Auteur Editeur : CRC Press Taylor & Francis Ltd Importance : 280 p Format : 24x16cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-4822-2376-7 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 612 Physiologie humaine : classer ici les ouvrages d'ensemble sur l'anatomie et la physiologie humaine. Classer la psychophysiologie à 152 Résumé : Mass Spectrometry-Based Metabolomics: A Practical Guide is a simple, step-by-step reference for profiling metabolites in a target organism. It discusses optimization of sample preparation for urine, serum, blood, tissue, food, and plant and animal cell samples.
Encompassing three different technical fields―biology, analytical chemistry, and informatics― mass spectrometry-based metabolomics can be challenging for biologists without special training in quantitative mass spectrometry. This book is designed to overcome this limitation by providing researchers with the knowledge they need to use metabolomics technology in their respective disciplines.
The book summarizes all steps in metabolomics research, from experimental design to sample preparation, analytical procedures, and data analysis. Case studies are presented for easy understanding of the metabolomics workflow and its practical applications in different research fields. The book includes an in-house library and built-in software so that those new to the field can begin to analyze real data samples.
In addition to being an excellent introductory text, the book also contains the latest advancements in this emerging field and can thus be a useful reference for metabolomics specialists.Mass Spectrometry-Based Metabolomics : A Practical Guide [texte imprimé] / Sastia Prama Putri, Auteur ; Eiichiro Fukusaki, Auteur . - [S.l.] : CRC Press Taylor & Francis Ltd, [s.d.] . - 280 p ; 24x16cm.
