ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-03-230500-4 Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : A Complete Guide to Literary Analysis and Theory offers an accessible introduction to all the current approaches to literary analysis. Ranging from stylistics and historicism to post-humanism and new materialism, it also includes chapters on media studies and screen studies.
The Guide is designed for use in introductory literature courses and as a primer in theory courses. Each chapter summarizes the main ideas of each approach to the study of literature in clear prose, providing lucid introductions to the practice of each school, and conducts readings using classic and modern works of literature from around the world. The book draws on examples from a wide range of works from classics such as F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby and Shakespeare's King Lear to contemporary works such as Ocean Vuong's On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous and Amanda Gorman's "The Hill We Climb."
This wide-ranging introduction is ideal for students encountering literary study for the first time, as well as more advanced students who need a concise summary of critical methods. It strives to make complex ideas simple and provides readings that undergraduates should be able to understand and enjoy as well as training them to conduct analyses of their own.En ligne : https://images.routledge.com/common/jackets/crclarge/978103230/9781032305004.jpg 282p. Format : 15*23cm. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-367-54816-2 Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : This edited thematic collection features latest developments of discourse analysis in translation and interpreting studies. It investigates the process of how cultural and ideological intervention is conducted in translation and interpreting using a wide array of discourse analysis and systemic functional linguistic approaches and drawing on empirical data from the Chinese context. The book is divided into four main sections: I. uncovering positioning and ideology in interpreting and translation, II. linking linguistic approach with socio-cultural interpretation, III. discourse analysis into news translation and IV. analysis of multimodal and intersemiotic discourse in translation.
The different approaches to discourse analysis provide a much-needed contribution to the field of translation and interpreting studies. This combination of discourse analysis and corpus analysis demonstrates the interconnectedness of these fields and offers a rich source of conceptual and methodological tools.
This book will appeal to scholars and research students in translation and interpreting studies, cross-linguistic discourse analysis and Chinese studies.Advances in Discourse Analysis of Translation and Interpreting : Linking Linguistic Approaches with Socio-cultural Interpretation [texte imprimé] / Binhua Wang, Auteur . - [S.l.] : Routledge, 2022 . - 240p. ; 15*23cm.

Titre : Anglophone Literature in Second-Language Teacher Education: Curriculum Innovation through Intercultural Communication Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Quinn, Justin, Auteur Editeur : Routledge Année de publication : 2021 Importance : 206P Format : 23*15CM Accompagnement : COV.ULL ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-367-74107-5 Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : In the introduction to this volume, which consists of thirteen essays by various authors plus an introduction and a conclusion, the editors propose a new model for teaching literature to preservice EFL teachers, thus raising awareness of the impact of intercultural theory and communication on studying and teaching literature. They take into consideration that their compilation primarily addresses literary scholars, who can arguably be seen as the target audience providing an education in literary studies to EFL teacher students. Hence, Quinn and Kleckova stake their research interest in how to professionalize these experts of their field with regards to changing demands due to ‘dynamic, transnational and translingual’ (p. 2) literary canons. Consequently, they criticize realia-oriented teaching approaches focused on knowledge about a target culture as ‘essentialist and ahistorical’ (p. 5). Even though it should be acknowledged that literary scholars acquire more nuanced concepts of culture and intercultural competence, practical implications remain an academic void. Format : 23*15CM ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-03-227546-8 Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : Offering a wealth of art-based practices, this volume invites readers to reimagine the joyful possibility and power of language and culture in language and literacy learning. Understanding art as a tool that can be used for decolonizing minds, the contributors explore new methods and strategies for supporting the language and literacy learning skills of multilingual students. Contributors are artists, educators, and researchers who bring together cutting-edge theory and practice to present a broad range of traditional and innovative art forms and media that spotlight the roles of artful resistance and multilingual activism. Featuring questions for reflection and curricular applications, chapters address theoretical issues and pedagogical strategies related to arts and language learning, including narrative inquiry, journaling, social media, oral storytelling, and advocacy projects.
The innovative methods and strategies in this book demonstrate how arts-based, decolonizing practices are essential in fostering inclusive educational environments and supporting multilingual students’ cultural and linguistic repertoires. Transformative and engaging, this text is a key resource for educators, scholars, and researchers in literacy and language education.
