Folklore, voir 390 Résumé : This volume focuses on the linguistic constructs involved in ethnic borders. Ethnic borders have proven themselves to be surprisingly long-lived: in nearly all European countries and beyond, border demarcation, exclusion of foreigners, and minority conflicts are some of the most persistent challenges for nations and societies. Which linguistic factors play a role in the formation of these borders, especially those drawn along ethnic lines? Which linguistic constructs contribute to the negotiation, establishment and maintenance of ethnic groups and identities? Under which conditions can processes of linguistic convergence, hybrids, or transcultural identities be observed?

Titre : Second language acquisition in complex linguistic environments Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Juliane Besters-Dilger, Auteur Editeur : Peter Lang GmbH, Internationaler Verlag der Wissenschaften Année de publication : 2016 Importance : 330 pages Présentation : Item Weight : 1.15 pounds Format : 6 x 1 x 8.5 inches ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-631-67851-0 Langues : Français (fre) Langues originales : Français (fre) Index. décimale : 306 Culture et normes de comportement : anthropologie sociale et culturelle. Folklore, voir 390 Résumé : Russian-speaking immigrants residing in the Czech Republic or Germany are faced with the challenge of acquiring the Slavic (Czech) or Non-Slavic (German) language of the new environment. This process is influenced by their native language. The volume empirically analyses the acquisition of a related language compared to that of a non- or distantly related one and explores how the non-homogeneous language of the new environment – situation of diglossia in the Czech Republic, diaglossia in Germany – influences this acquisition. It additionally examines the impact of several sociolinguistic factors on L2 acquisition, especially age. Titre : Stereotypes, Ideology and Foreign Correspondents : German Media Representations of Ireland 1946 - 2010 Volume 75 Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Fergal Lenehan, Auteur Editeur : Peter Lang GmbH, Internationaler Verlag der Wissenschaften Année de publication : 2016 Importance : 316 pages Format : 14.99 x 2.03 x 22.35 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-0343-2222-5 Langues : Français (fre) Langues originales : Français (fre) Index. décimale : 306 Culture et normes de comportement : anthropologie sociale et culturelle. Folklore, voir 390 Résumé : his book examines German media representations of Ireland from 1946 to 2010, from the post-war period to the years of the so-called «Celtic Tiger» and Ireland’s subsequent economic downturn. It charts both the patterns and the inconsistencies in depictions of Ireland in the weekly publications Der Spiegel and Die Zeit, as well as in German cinema.
Cultural stereotypes may be employed in the furthering of a problematic cultural essentialism; however, they may also be used to «play» with readers’ or viewers’ expectations. They may be juxtaposed with newer cultural generalizations, or re-moulded to fit a transformed cultural reality. The representations of Ireland examined in this book are revealed as inherently ideological, consistently locating Ireland outside of an evolving European societal «normalcy». While this is often presented as something highly positive, the book argues that it implicitly places Germany at the centre of Europe and may be viewed as a type of excluding Europeanism.Stereotypes, Ideology and Foreign Correspondents : German Media Representations of Ireland 1946 - 2010 Volume 75 [texte imprimé] / Fergal Lenehan, Auteur . - [S.l.] : Peter Lang GmbH, Internationaler Verlag der Wissenschaften, 2016 . - 316 pages ; 14.99 x 2.03 x 22.35 cm.
